Rehousing fragile material in archival materials such as e-flute corrugated boards helps protect the state of the book while allowing access to library patrons who handle the object on and off of the shelves.

Custom-made flap enclosures mitigate the possibility of abrasions that may occur if the book were to be placed within, for instance, larger boxes that allow the material room to slide and rub against the interior. They also create a microclimate that serves to control the light, relative humidity, and temperature that the object is exposed to.
